Programs & Activities
Program 1
$6KThis organization activated the business district by funding marketing and organizing a Town Hall Live free concert series on the third Saturday of each month from May through October. In addition this organization funded an additional free concert with a Bavarian Band as part of an Oktoberfest event. These events brought the community together and increased customer traffic at local businesses within the district. Through this activation we are also looking to attract new residents businesses developers and visitors in order to enhance the overall welfare of the neighborhood.
Program 2
This organization worked with City Council City Administration and other community organizations to advocate for enhancements that would benefit the neighborhood business district. These areas of focus included increasing traffic-calming and pedestrian and bike safety attracting mixed-use development extending street-scaping and lighting and enhancing parking options. Advocation has taken the form of meeting with individual City Council members working directly with members of City departments such as Transportation and Engineering writing letters of support and submitting funding requests. As a result there are improvements underway e.g. raised crosswalks and others in the queue to improve the quality vibrancy and safety of what we intend to be a very inclusive welcoming district for residents and visitors.
Program 3
This organization utilized web social media posters blogs articles and other channels to promote the business district and businesses within it to people inside and outside the district. We are also keeping a common calendar of events up to attract visitors specifically for those. By attracting customers to come to the district and patronize the districts events and businesses we are hoping to help businesses thrive and thereby increase the vibrancy and attractiveness of the district to residents. We are looking to improve the economy of Westwood by developing attracting expanding and retaining businesses schools and civic community institutions thereby retaining or expanding jobs for the people of Westwood and surrounding communities.
Program 4
This organization provided a forum to bring businesses together to discuss and collaborate on common issues and pursue opportunities to further enhance the business district in ways that benefit existing residents and businesses and attract new residents businesses developers and visitors. By addressing issues and identifying opportunities we are looking to benefit businesses and thereby the quality vibrancy and safety of the district for residents.
