$193KSub-saharan africa: medical specialty access for underserved regionswti advanced healthcare access across sub-saharan africa by delivering specialty telehealthservices to underserved areas, including kenya, togo, and nigeria. In kenya, wti's tele-nephrology program at longisa county referral hospital connected local clinicians with international nephrologists, improving chronic kidney disease management and dialysis care.the program also enhanced clinician confidence and outcomes in a region with only 41 nephrologists serving over 53 million people.additional telehealth support in ob/gyn and pediatrics enabled accurate diagnosis andtreatment of life-threatening conditions. In togo and nigeria, wti responded to urgent needs in neonatology, helping hospitals reduce infant mortality by implementing new protocols fordelivery, infection prevention, and infant nutrition. Frequent real-time consultations delivercontinual training and sustain impact.
Program 2
$117KSouth & southeast asia: refugee health & diagnostic trainingwti's programs in bangladesh and bhutan further its mission of expanding global access to quality care. In bangladesh, wti supports physicians at hope hospital in cox's bazar and the rohingya refugee camp by connecting them with international specialists. Patients facing complex medical conditions - many with no access to specialty care - receive expert consultations free of charge.in bhutan, wti addressed critical diagnostic gaps by implementing a six-week, telehealth-enabled point-of-care ultrasound (pocus) training program. Local clinicians mastered life-saving ultrasound applications such as identifying ectopic pregnancy, internal bleeding, andpneumonia. The program included ultrasound probe donations and hands-on remote mentoring, enabling lasting improvements in diagnostic capability.
