Education: in 2024, 100reporters designed and launched dx square(d), an online resource hub for investigative journalists and filmmakers. The platform hosts a searchable database of sessions recorded at the first ten editions of double exposure, including panel discussions, skill-building workshops, masterclasses and filmmaker q&as. It also offers handbooks with templates to help freelance journalists and independent filmmakers negotiate fair contracts with major media organizations. Dx square(d) provides filmmakers, journalists and students who are unable to attend the festival and its companion symposium an avenue for gaining valuable information and skills, furthering 100reporters mission of advancing best practices in investigative storytelling.
Civic accountability: 100reporters used material, editorial and legal resources (e.g first amendment, freedom of information) to advance civic accountability through journalism worldwide. The organization works with locally based journalists, often in places that lack legal protections for independent reporting that challenges government and corporate interests by exposing entrenched corruption. It undertook several long term investigations on aging in america and vulnerable populations to be published in 2025, and co-published a report with the new york times on do not resuscitate orders and patient treatment in hospital settings. The report showed that dnr orders are frequently misinterpreted by healthcare providers.
