Next youth services provides educational re-engagement, educational attainment, workforce readiness, paid work experience, and post-secondary education support for youth ages 14-24 who are at-risk of houselessness or are unhoused. The program is designed to support youth development while building youth's natural support network as they assess "what's next" after attaining stabilization in short-term housing.
The host home program serves youth ages 14-24 currently experiencing houselessness through partnership with hosts (community-based volunteers who agree to house youth for a short term stay). Hosting is not foster care. Youth choice is central to the program and youth participation in any placement is strictly voluntary. After a host is approved, hosts and youth engage in a matching process through which both parties agree to the placement. Hosts act as mentors for youth as they work to attain independent housing. Both host and youth receive direct support from the agency including financial assistance, case management, mediation, educational re-engagement, workforce readiness, job placement, and transition planning for independent housing.
