Mission

The organization's mission is to provide free, high-quality prosthetic limbs, orthotic devices, and appropriately fitted wheelchairs to children with limb disabilities in the developing world.

Programs

3 programs

More than 106 million children live with untreated disabilities in emerging countries. 95% of these children cannot afford even rudimentary care, let alone the follow up care that is needed as they grow. Without access to mobility care, less than 10% of these children attend school. In 2024, A Leg To Stand On served 645 patients in Southeast Asia, aged infant through 25 years, with high-quality prosthetic limbs, orthotic braces, and appropriately fitted wheelchairs. Orthopedic care included ongoing care for recurring patients and the registration and treatment of new patients. In 2024, 71% of school aged children treated under A Leg To Stand On's programs were attending school or had already graduated, as of their most recent treatment. Mobility helps provide independence, access to education, and improves quality of life for patients served and their families.
