Welfare of needy companion animals in Amador County California.

Feral cats are taken from the county shelter and from individual colonies spay neutered given rabies vaccinations medical care as needed and allowed then released back into their colonies or adopted out to a barn type home where they will be provided shelter food and water. In 2024 324 cats benefited from this program. A small adoption fee is charged for the barn cat placement

We provide financial assistance to county residence to spay or neuter their pets. We also offer free spay or neuter for the pets of Low Income residents. Thereby reducing the number of unwanted pets released to the county shelter. In 2024 336 cats and dogs were spay neutered through this program.

Santa Fund Medical assistance is provided to pets of county residence who could not otherwise pay for necessary veterinary care. 18 cats dogs and a rabbit received medical care through this program in 2024.

Expenses: $10K

in 2023 started a program were in dogs are taken from shelters primarily Pittbulls given medical spattered vaccines fostered in homes and adopted. Ceased operations in 2024. APAL is not prepared to deal with dogs at this time.
