Donor advising: the association spends the majority of its time focused on providing advisory assistance, grant recommendations, and thought leadership to donors who on our advice have invested in transforming criminal justice. In fy24, we recommended over $5 million to dozens of organizations through a donor-advised-fund. In addition, we created bespoke grantmaking recommendations for other funders. In 2023, we calculate that over $5,000,000 in multi-year funding commitments were made based on our recommendations to other funders. Each month, the association composes and distributes memoranda on current affairs, recent news, best funding practices, and philanthropic opportunities in the criminal justice reform space, reaching a wide range of donors and donor advisors. We regularly host donor briefings and workshops to give guidance to funders who are interested in grantmaking to the criminal justice reform field. In fy24, we hosted gatherings educating over 100 donors, donor advisors, and other professionals on the importance of criminal justice reform. We were invited to lead a workshop at a global convening that represented over 400 philanthropists and social investors from more than 30 countries. We were also invited to give a keynote lecture on funding movement ecosystems to a prestigous donor advisor community.
