Maintain public hiking trails near keene valley, ny and provide outdoor education to local youth.

Trail maintenance - construct, maintain, and improve 105 miles of public hiking trails in the adirondack mountains in the vicinity of keene valley, new york. Work is accomplished by a six-member professional crew and includes clearing downed trees, pruning back brush, mowing weeds and grasses, establishing and maintaining drainage structures, building bridges, and installing hard tread where needed. The state of new york department of environmental conservation maintains trail sign-in registers at eight of the eleven trailheads where hikers access the trails maintained by the society.

High peaks camp - two week hiking, camping, and canoeing experience in wilderness area of the adirondack high peaks region - for small groups of 12 to 15 year old youth.
