Mission
The Affirmative Collective was formed to promote justice-related advancements in the development and implementation of evidence-based psychological assessments and interventions in diverse populations. Community mental health programs are often understaffed, with long waiting lists, and many don't focus on providing evidence-based practices (EBP). Careful, affirming, competent, anti-oppressive therapy requires a commitment to ongoing and advanced training, which requires time and resources. Many EBPs have not been validated in marginalized populations, leaving it open whether best practices are best practices for all. Manualized treatment plans do not always build in explicit acknowledgment of identity, especially in relation to oppression and intersectional identities. TAC's mission is to provide world-class, evidence-based, culturally aware care for underserved and marginalized populations through establishment of clinics and ongoing supervision and training of employed clinicians.
