Crisis Food Access & Culturally Responsive PantriesOperating across Harlem, the Bronx, and Brooklyn, Afrikana served over 10,000 individuals through our three culturally responsive food pantries. Our sites offer halal, West African, and Caribbean staple foods to meet the dietary and cultural needs of the Black diaspora. We also launched weekly mom groups that combine food access with ESL learning, wellness support, and parenting education. This wraparound approach helps new arrivals stabilize and build community. Afrikanas pantry services are led by community members with shared lived experience, ensuring trust and effectiveness.

Community-Based Workforce & Driving School InitiativeAfrikana launched a workforce initiative focused on preparing Black migrants for dignified, living-wage employment. We offered OSHA certification, trade training, ESL classes, and began preparing to launch a free, year-round driving school designed to help Black migrants and diaspora youth safely learn to drive and understand their rights when interacting with police. Over 300 individuals have participated so far. All programming is trauma-informed, linguistically accessible, and rooted in safety and dignity
