Arm members and the arm executive director worked with the legislative consulting firm, flaherty & hood, to represent arm members at the minnesota legislature, state agencies and local government bodies on regulatory and public policy issues impacting the aggregate and ready mix industries in minnesota. Arm contracts with larkin hoffman attorneys to represent members' interests with the minnesota pollution control agency (mpca). Arm supports funding for dnr aggregate resource mapping program.the association accomplishes its work through a committee structure that oversees a number of major initiatives. Arm's environment & land use committee continues to be engaged in the development and review of new regulatory rules. This committee works closely with the mpca, and dnr in minnesota. Arm participates in educational workshops and statewide conferences designed to increase public awareness of the aggregate mining industry in minnesota and the uses and benefits of dependable local sources of aggregate products. Arm supports the minnesota center for mineral resource education (mcmre) a 501(c)(3) charitable education organization focused on supporting k-12 science teachers understanding of the minerals industry in minnesota through annual minnesota minerals education workshops (mmew). Arm staff serves on the minnesota minerals coordinating committee.the technical committee monitors new technology in the aggregate and ready mixed concrete industries at the direction of the arm board of directors and works with state and local agencies to educate regulators on the benefits of performance standards for construction materials. Arm also supports research projects including concrete pavement research at the mnroad pavement research facility (mnroad) concrete pavement research through the national concrete pavement technology center, and participates on the national road research alliance (nrra). Arm staff serves on the research advisory council of the rmc research and education foundation, and on the program coordination group for the airport concrete pavement technology program. Arm's board of directors established a safety committee in fy2025 to assist member companies with compliance and safety efforts. The committee works to promote a safe working environment at mines, pits, quarries, plants, and job sites. Much of the committee's fy2025 efforts have centered on sharing best management practices.the arm board of directors is elected annually at the annual membership meeting of the association in december. The board of directors meets four times a year to review the work of its committees, review financial statements, develop annual budgets and approve annual work plans for the association. The executive committee consists of the president, vice president, past president, treasurer and such additional members as may be appointed by the board of directors. Subject to the control and direction of the board of directors, the executive committee may act on behalf of the association during the intervals between the regular quarterly meetings of the board of directors.
