Programs

Nutrition program:the adrc nutrition program delivers nourishing meals annually to more than 2,600 brown county residents aged 60 and older. Meals are distributed through community dining sites, pop-up events, and directly to the homes of eligible individuals. In 2024, the program provided 26,935 meals at dining sites and 116,252 home-delivered meals. Offered on a donation basis, meals are accompanied by ongoing nutrition education. Community dining fosters meaningful social engagement, while home delivery ensures daily contact and wellness monitoring. One in five recipients describe the meals as something to look forward to, and half report a sense of safety and security.
Grounded cafe programs: grounded cafe serves as a welcoming, inclusive space where community members can connect over thoughtfully prepared coffee, breakfast, or lunch. More than just a cafe, it operates as a workforce development program, offering hands-on training and real-world experience to individuals with disabilities, empowering them with skills and confidence for meaningful employment. At its core, grounded cafe actively challenges societal stereotypes, embracing and honoring the diverse abilities of every individual who walks through its doors. Extending this mission beyond the cafe walls, grounded on the go brings our commitment to inclusion and connection directly into the community through an ada-accessible food truck. This mobile extension increases access to quality food and meaningful interactions while providing trainees with additional opportunities to develop transferable job skills.
Prevention programs:the adrc provides a broad spectrum of programs designed to enhance overall quality of life while aiming to delay or prevent the necessity for expensive long-term care services. Through a multidimensional approach to wellness, we offer a wide array of educational opportunities and evidence-based workshops. These include classes on fall prevention, chronic disease self-management, and family caregiving, as well as offerings focused on cognitive health such as memory screening, dementia awareness, and brain health education. Additional programming explores topics such as advance care planning, mindfulness practices, adaptive technology, safe body mechanics, and physical activity. Creative and social engagement is also fostered through music classes like ukulele and harmonica and diverse support group offerings.
