Mission
The alaska humanities forum connects alaskans through stories, ideas, and experiences that positively change lives and strengthen communities.
Programs
1 program
Humanities programs encompassed a wide range of humanities topics including community conversations, a leadership program, alaskan history and the annual governor's awards for the arts and humanities. These programs help pass on the values, methods, and wisdom of the humanities to future generations. The alaska humanities forum issued grants to individuals and small organizations, which funded operational support (covid relief) and humanities-based projects in small communities across the state. Projects cultivate enjoyment of the humanities in disciplines such as cultural studies, archaeology, ethics, philosophy, history, linguistics, folklore, languages, theatrical arts, and film. The forum delivers humanities programs through in-person events to virtual events.
