This grant provided funding for Sympatico. Sympatico is a music education initiative that operates as a partnership between the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra and ACPS. The mission of Sympatico is to provide high quality and accessible music education to the youth of Alexandria. Currently, Sympatico serves 100 students at John Adams Elementary School. These students receive music instruction for an extra hour before or after school, five days per week, throughout the school year. Making music is a physical activity. Performing and practicing a musical skill requires endurance, muscle control, strength, and flexibility.
