Programs
3 programs
This program formerly known as allegretto is now called nextgen. Nextgen has 5 elite ensembles of highly talented high school musicians, chosen by audition. Allegretto was the original ensemble. The group gives young players a chance to perform the great orchestral works, and they also experience a joyful collaborative learning environment. Unique to nextgen is its coaching approach with the allegro professionals participating in selected rehearsals and joining the youth in concerts. Nextgen performed 4 concerts in person and livestream with 1,166 total attendees.
A new program for this fiscal year is the addition of the allegro chamber singers. The allegro chamber singers, formerly operating as a separate entity known as musical associates since 2003, has delighted audiences with choral programs ranging from medieval music to the present day. This 48- voice auditioned chorus is unique in that it rehearses and performs only in the summer months, allowing area professionals the opportunity to hone skills and enjoy challenging repertoire without the pressures of the fall and spring academic seasons. The allegro chamber singers performed 1 summer concert with an approximate attendance of 250. A freewill offering was taken.
