Endowed, annual(expendable) and one-time scholarhsips are financial stipends awarded by the allentown school distirct foundation(asdf)to graduation students to pay for post-secondary education. While the scholarship is awarded to the student, the funds are paid by the asdf directly to the post-secondary institution to be credited to the student's account. To insure awardability, no more than two criteria beyond high school designation are used in determining scholarship receipients may be set. The selection process is at the discretion of the building principal. While donors may determine eligibility criteria, donors may not be involved in the selection of individual scholarship recipients. The asf nor its board members may be involved in any selection process. A minimum of $10,000 in gift(s) is required for a contribution to be considered an endowed scholarship.
The foundation organizes and runs programs within district schools, and also provides funding for programming within the schools. During the 2024-2025 school year, flexible grants were given to the four middle schools and dieruff and allen high schools to support choral and instrumental music, theatre, poetry, and dance programs. The asdf funded the middle school dance lessons and competition and the strings program at raub ms, a literacy volunteer program, national history day, science fair, the renaissance art programs, lcti summer camps, and teacher innovation grants.
