Mission
Amanzi - water to schools (amanzi) partners with no-fee schools in the eastern cape of south africa to develop sustainable water solutions and bridges to opportunities for students. Without water, the township and rural schools where amanzi works can be forced to reduce instruction hours or, even worse, close. Unemployment rates where these schools are located often exceed 50% for the uneducated - yet unemployment rates drop to ~25% for those with a high school diploma and to ~6% for those with an undergraduate degree. Water is critical - for drinking, sanitation and for providing a daily meal (often, the only reliable meal) to students. Amanzi provides climate-smart water solutions such as rainwater harvesting systems and waterless toilets; our partner schools decide which solutions will work best for them. Once water is secured, our job is not done. Next, we become a bridge to our partner organizations who offer further opportunities to teachers and learners.
