While there is growing awareness of the ecological and health damage wrought by critical resource mining, key voices are too often missing from the discourse. Mining companies, the government, and even automakers have been very effective in shaping the narratives, particularly in the news media, around nickel mining in indonesia. Rarely, though, do the perspectives of people who live closest to the mines receive meaningful coverage. This initiative aims to change.
