The Tarshis Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting animal welfare by advancing bold solutions that address the root causes of cruelty: overpopulation, education and alternative vegan food sources.

Animal Welfare: The Foundation directly fund spay and neuter clinics in underserved areas, coordinate rescue transport from high-kill shelters in Southern California to adoption-focused shelters in other states, and maintain a robust foster program for hard-to-place animals. Key accomplishments in 2024: 1. Funded over 400 spay/neuter procedures through regional clinic partnerships. 2. Funded efforts of START Rescue and other groups to transport 600+ at-risk dogs to no-kill shelters in the Pacific Northwest. 3. Provided foster care for 5 long-stay dogs otherwise facing euthanasia.
Wildlife Preservation: The Foundation operates and maintains a private wildlife refuge in Northern California to protect and monitor native species including wild boar and deer. Key accomplishments in 2024: 1. Maintained 180-acre habitat supporting native animals and birds. 2. Repaired water flow to natural pond to support local wildlife and guide future conservation efforts.
