Programs
3 programs
The festival has long had an educational program as part of its mission. After the pandemic, the organization moved away from individual lessons for children and began a community chamber music program taught by our executive director. It brings together budding musicians of all ages (this year between 11 y.o. And 75 y.o.), to learn to play stringed instruments in a chamber music setting. The pilot program in 2022 proved very popular, and it will be continued in future years. The festival also offers free masterclass opportunities to local college students, as well as in-school performances at different nassau county schools. All expenses for these programs are included in artist fees or salaries.
The festival conducts a one week intensive program each june. Young musicians studying in colleges, universities and conservatories, preparing to be professional musicians, come to amelia island to work with our quartet in residence, 8 to 12 hours each day. The young musicians, along with the members of the quartet in residence, present a concert for the general public at the end of the week. And during the week the young musicians perform at local retirement homes for their residents who cannot attend concerts in person.
