We are the community of geriatric psychiatrists, health professionals, scientists, and advocates committed to improving mental health care and wellness in aging adults.

Membership services the association provides: convenient electronic services to its members such as a robust website, listserves, annual surveys, online registrations and dues renewal, electronic balloting, online directory, publications, notifications of upcoming events and opportunities, career job postings and opportunities, as well as meeting materials. Aagp scholars program: the association provides scholarship funding for eligible medical students and psychiatry residents to attend the aagp annual meeting and supports a special educational program for trainees during the meeting. The aim of the scholars program is to encourage trainees to pursue specialized training in geriatric psychiatry to meet the mental health needs of the expanding population of older americans. Leadership: the leadership of the association meets periodically to help shape the future of the association and the field of geriatric psychiatry.
The association provides members and healthcare professionals with up-to-date information in geriatric psychiatry through its monthly peer-reviewed journal, the american journal of geriatric psychiatry, featuring evidence-based research. It also offers consumer education and caregiver resources, including pamphlets and referrals. Additionally, the association developed the internet geriatric psychiatry self-assessment program (igpsap), a self-study tool based on current medical literature for psychiatrists continuing educationnot intended as an exam.
