Mission
Aapor is a professional organization dedicated to advancing the science and practice of survey & opinion research to give people a voice in the decisions that affect their daily lives. Aapor strives to: 1) educate policy makers and the public at large to help them make better use of surveys and survey findings; 2) educate practitioners on new developments affecting this field; 3) advocate the highest standards of ethical conduct for survey and opinion research; 4) encourage and disseminate research and innovations that improve methods; 5) encourage and disseminate systematic analysis of public opinion on the major issues of the day; 6) promote best practices in collecting, analyzing and interpreting survey data; 7) provide opportunities for our members to exchange views.
Programs

Aapor produces resources on a range of survey and polling issues, including an online journal. Two peer-reviewed journals, the website, and other online materials are for use by public opinion research professionals and the general public.the public opinion quarterly (poq) is a peer-reviewed, scholarly journal published by oxford university press. Members in all membership classes other than joint and honorary membership receive an annual subscription as part of paying dues. Poq is published four times each year with a 5th special issue published at the discretion of the editors.
Aapor offers webinars that include exceptional learning opportunities from the most respected leaders in public opinion and survey research.
Aapor presents various awards at its annual meeting. Awardees are determined by subcommittees appointed specifically to review and select the awardees. Certain awardees receive reimbursement for limited expenses incurred to attend the annual meeting.
