Mission

Aapa is a trade association that represents the interests of the public port industry in the u.s., canada, latin america, and the caribbean region.

Programs

4 programs

Advocacy - the association influences public policy as the ports' recognized voice in washington. The association's highest priority is the advancement of port and freight transportation policies that support the membership's role in delivering economic prosperity. The association and its membership have also embarked on a strategic awareness initiative called seaports deliver prosperity, to garner additional support for seaports and industry issues by heightening the awareness of the critical importance of ports.

Convention - the convention and expo is the association's largest membership meeting of the year. Held every fall in a different city, the convention includes technical and policy committee meetings, business sessions and social events allowing port professionals and stakeholders in the marine transportation industry to exchange views and expand business contacts.

Latin american liaison - the latin american liaison represents the association's existing latin american membership and works to expand the association's reach through latin america.

Accelerate - the accelerate is a program designed for employers, including ports, to upskill, reskill and educate their employees to fill critical roles in the supply chain through the apprenticeship model. The grant is used for the building and expansion of apprenticeship programs within the transportation and maritime industry. The focus of the grant is to expand sector-based apprenticeship programs for middle-to high-skill jobs to bring new entrants into the workforce and "upskill" current incumbents. This will be done by creating or building on existing apprenticeship programs in transportation, cybersecurity, technology and advanced manufacturing.
