The metropolitan washington council's mission is to organize in the community in an effort to promote social justice for all working people through the uniting of the labor movement and mobilizing the local community.

Organizing - the council is involved in various organizing efforts in the washington, d.c. Metropolitan area. Whether its supporting affiliated unions organizing non-union workers, mobilizing union and community support for contract negotiations, assisting affiliates in efforts to do small- and large- scale mobilization, or creating strategies and campaigns that improve the lives of members and working people in the region, the council plays a wide array of roles in support of its affiliated unions.
