To promote the interests of students, their welfare and the advancement of education and the improvement of instructional opportunities for all individuals in the City of Schenectady, New York School District. Also serves its members as a labor organization engaged in the collective bargaining and contract administration on behalf of its membership which approximates 750 full memberships. There are also partial memberships which approximates 420 members. SFT is affiliated with New York State United Teachers (NYSUT), Local 803, and its national affiliate the American Federation Of Teachers (AFT) and the AFL-CIO.
