American Legacy Theatre

ALT In Communities highlights a myriad of work done by professional artists in service to the community. This year continued how theatre arts can be leveraged to support overall social change in a community: residents from six neighborhoods generated six original plays around the essence of their neighborhood mounted the Ohio-premiere of ALTs original rock musical around the opioid epidemic in a 3-story brutalist art gallery developed an original musical that seeks to normalize the Black experience and empower women and recruited next years playwright in residence that will explore the themes of the housing crisis.

ALT In Workplaces continued to leverage the power of theatre techniques to build empathy and generate more equitable environments in the workplace. Focused on the foundational skill of listening and responding in the moment American Legacy Theatre was able to create more open-minded cultures with the ripple effect of changed behavior for a more empathetic approach to daily life.
