They promote americanism throughout the community throught it various programs. The sons of the american legion, detachment of the american legion department of colorado, is a program of the american legion that was organized specifically to support the aims and purposes of the american legion.

The sons of the american legion's main purpose is to support the american legion. They help support veterans and their families while working with the american legion family on the many programs and projects, which are geared to help veterans and their families, our nation's youth and our communities.

1. Donations to other charities. 2. High school oratorical scholarship program - this is a constitutional speech contest of which the purpose is to develop a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the constitution of the united states on the part of high school students. Other objectives of the contest include the development of leadership qualities, the ability to think and speak clearly and intelligently, and the preparation for acceptance of the duties and responsibilities, the rights and privileges of american citizenship.
