American society for bone and mineral research (the society) is a professional, scientific, and medical society established to advance bone, mineral and musculoskeletal science worldwide and to promote the translation of basic and clinical research to improve human health.
Programs

Publications - the society publishes a monthly magazine titled the journal of bone and mineral research (jbmr), which includes original manuscripts, reviews, and special articles in basic and clinical science relevant to bone, muscle and mineral metabolism. In addition to jbmr, the society also publishes jbmr plus, primer, and a weekly an e-news weekly. Exclusive to the society's members, the e-news weekly provides information about grant announcements, asbmr meeting information, information about the society's advocacy efforts with other bone-related organizations, and executive summaries of noteworthy news articles pertaining to the bone field.
Other funded programs - the society funds annual meeting travel grants and provides support to other outside organizations which are approved by the society's executive committee.
Awards and donations - the society provides various awards during their annual meeting and pre-meeting symposia.
Committees - the society has various committees to help maintain the organization. These various committees work under the direction of the governing council and in partnership with the team members of the association's management company. These committees help ensure that activities are congruent with the society's mission, the continuity of its programs, and the maintenance of its policies and procedures.
Pre-meeting symposia - the society hosts a one-day symposia prior to their annual meeting on focused topics or issues in the field of bone, mineral and musculoskeletal research.
Education - the asbmr education resource center is an online platform that provides of all of the society's educational content from the meetings and webinars.
Advocacy - the society works closely with other organizations through partnerships to better improve their field and create call to actions and to address new issues in the bone and mineral industry.
Working groups the society's working group meetings are interactive meetings related to a focused topic not specifically or extensively addressed in the official asmbr scientific program. These meetings are organized by members of the society and are not initiated or organized by industry. The working groups are considered part of the official ancillary program.
