The continuing education and dissemination of research and information in the field of mass spectrometry and allied topics. Approximately 7,000 scientist members are involved in research and development.

The fall workshop: conducted annually, provides tutorial training in emerging technology and accommodates 70-125 participants annually. Asilomar conference on mass spectrometry: annual forum for the exchange of highly specialized research. Attendance is typically 100-140 participants annually. Winter conference: annual forum for the exchange of highly specialized research regarding topics of current interest. Limited to 150 participants annually.
