As a section of the American Water Works Association (AWWA), the Rocky Mountain Section is dedicated to carrying out the mission of the AWWA emphasizing areas of interest to the water industry, such as education, dissemination of information and influencing water-related issues.

The training and educational opportunities focus on dispersing information and advancing knowledge of the design, construction, operation and management of waterworks to improve water service to the public.
The Rocky Mountain Section serves as a local delivery system for grants received by the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and for education programs sponsored by the AWWA. The section assists the AWWA in the administration, marketing, promotion and instruction of training and educational opportunities offered throughout the Rocky Mountain region.
