Animal Care And Control Team

A significant part of acct's programmatic work is dedicated toward finding live exits for animals through adoption, transfers to rescue partners, returns to owners and for some animals, release back into the wild. The additional support of the volunteer program and surrender prevention efforts complement this work by promoting animals in the organization's care and keeping pets and their owners together.

Acct philly's client base is the 1.5 million residents of philadelphia, and our community support and field services team members are often the first to be there for residents. Animal protection officers are out in the field, assisting citizens by picking up dogs running at large as well as animals who are injured, sick or aggressive, responding to calls about potentially rabid wild animals and removing them from the community to protect the safety and health of residents, and assisting police, fire, and other city departments with animals encountered through their work. Our 24/7 dispatchers, along with our community support team members, are working to provide for the needs of the community and its animals, connecting them our services as well as referring them to other services that may also provide assistance.
