Mission
The animal welfare society of monroe (awsom) provides shelter and medical care for companion animals so they are free from abuse, hunger, fear, and lonliness, until placing them in responsible, forever homes.

Awsom operates a spay-neuter and wellness clinic adjacent to the shelter with x-ray, ultrasound, and a full surgical suite. The clinic provides the necessary medical care for sick, neglected, or abused shelter animals upon intake, and up unitl their recovery, in order to make them available for adoption. Additionally, it performs surgery and preventative care to every awsom shelter animal and, as frequently as scheduling permits, provides low-cost veterinary care to pets owned by members of the public as well as to homeless feral cats in monroe county, pennsylvania. Every animal adopted at awsom is spayed or neutered to reduce pet overpopulation.
