Applegate outdoor school - 2024 saw considerable expansion for the educational program, with both of our major programs. Applegate outdoor school and grow youth, developing a significant presence in the community. Funded by oregon's measure 99 - outdoor school for all. Applegate outdoor school (aos) leads 5th and 6th graders in week-long sessions of outdoor, inquiry based learning. In 2024, aos served 6th graders from hedrick and oakdale middle schools from the medford school district 549c. On average, we served 68 students weekly throughout april and may.

Upper applegate all-lands wildfire resiliency project - primarily funded by oregon department of forestry (odf) grants, this ongoing fuels management project seeks to enact landscape-level wildfire risk reduction by treating fuels on private land. In 2024 the project completed 60 property inspections and the removal of over 600 hazard trees, with fuel reduction treatments covering over 125 acres of private lands. The project also aided in the creation of the appleegate valley fuels management taskforce. The project is scheduled to complete many further inspections and treatments next year.
