Mission
Appleseed is the founder of, and the national office for, a non-profit network of 18 centers across the u.s. And mexico. Appleseed is dedicated to advancing justice and opportunities that help low-income people and working families build better lives. Appleseed employs litigation, policy advocacy, and grass roots organizing, and makes a difference by staying close to theircommunities, winning victories in hard political environments, and bringing the power and expertise of a national network to bear on cross-cutting social issues.
Programs

Appleseed network collaboration previously. Collaborative projects and pro bono legal services: the appleseed foundation facilitates collaborative advocacy among the 18 justice centers in the appleseed network. These collaborations include multicenter projects related to economic justice, criminal justice, education and youth, immigration, and access to justice. Issues of social justice are both widespread across jurisdictions and deeply rooted in their specific community context, and appleseed's structure-independent justice centers working collaboratively as a network - allows appleseed to work on these issues both broadly and deeply.
Appleseed new justice centers is a new program that includes a part of the previously, field network category: the appleseed foundation sows the seeds of justice by launching new appleseed justice centers. When establishing a new appleseed center, the appleseed foundation works closely with local community members, advocates, and other stakeholders to identify the most pressing issues in the jurisdiction, gaps in existing advocacy infrastructure, and opportunities for collaboration. The newest appleseed justice centers are oklahoma appleseed (launched in 2022) and arkansas appleseed (launched in 2021).
