Education and networking: AWI's education and networking outreachFunctions largely as a joint effort between AWI volunteers and AWI professional staff. The education committee's primary charge is to develop and deliver valuable industry specific education programs to AWI members and to host and promote networking between AWI manufacturing members and supplier members. In 2007, AWI was named educator of the year by the woodwork machinery manufacturers association.
Standards and certification: since 1961, AWI has continually published the industry's premier quality standards for fine architectural woodwork. AWI maintains a volunteer industry technical committee which reviews suggested changes to the standard. The architect and design professional community references the AWI quality standard in most every commercial construction project specifications and contract documents.
