Arlekin Players Theatre

Our class - brooklyn academy of music in advance to the october 7, 2023 attack on israel, arlekin had already begun extensive work on a series of plays centered on themes of antisemitism, immigration, war, and displacement, and sought to create opportunities for conversations on these topics. Our class, which tells the story of the 1941 pogrom in the polish town of jedwabne, became a timely piece and was named one of the best plays of 2024 by the wall street journal. Director igor golak was cited as "among the most inventive directors working in the united states," by the new york times. Dozens of family members and descendants of the victims and survivors of that event contacted arlekin, attended performances, and shared their stories, which arlekin captured in a series of documentary clips. The sold out run was remounted with the entire creative team in fall 2024. All revenue and expenses for the production were handled through our co-producer, the mart foundation, and this did not go through arlekin's books. Arlekin did pay some expenses for this production and was reimbursed by mart.

The dybbuk - the vilna shul arlekin produced and performed the dybbuk at the historic the vilna shul, boston's center for jewish culture in june 2024, transforming the synagogue into an eersice theatrical experience that supported the play's setting between two worlds. The show was a massive critical success, with sold out performances.
