The Skeet and Trap range provides facilities and services in support of the chapter objectives of education, charitable activities, and community service. Educational shooting activities are conducted throughout the year and consist of nationally sanctioned skeet and trap competitions, league shooting, formal shotgun training courses, and informal instructional clinics. These events provide an opportunity for about 1,000 Chapter members and non-members to improve their skills and also promote a positive image of shooting sports within the community. The range also provides a venue for charitable fundraising activities by outside organizations with proceeds going to medical research organizations. Informal shotgun shooting events are held for veterans and wounded military personnel support organizations as community service events.
The Chapter's air gun program is used by Chapter members, junior athletes, local high school teams, and area club teams to practice and compete in the sport of air rifle and air pistol. Coaching and equipment are provided for those interested in trying these shooting sports. This program teaches gun safety, discipline, perseverance, and teamwork. Over 200 local athletes participate in the local high school air rifle league, with seven of the local teams hosted by this air gun program. As a result, a significant number of youth athletes receive scholarships to compete on college shooting teams. The air gun program also hosts an air pistol team, conducts school programs for adaptive (handicapped) shooters, provides facilities for Wounded Warrior air rifle teams, and conducts multiple official matches throughout the year. One notable accomplishment of the air gun program was that two athletes participated in the 2016 Summer Olympics with one winning the first Gold Medal awarded at the Games.
