Mission
To discover and memorialize the history of Armstrong County Pennsylvania; to discover procure and preserve physical objects and buildings of historic significance; and to establish and maintain a museum and genealogical library. The Society holds various events on its property and within the museum such as a local artisan festival Civil War Living History Encampment Antique Engine show Quilt Show and Christmas Open House. All have a purpose to educate and entertain the visitors.

Operation and maintenance of the Societys genealogical library. Researchers from throughout the United States have contacted the librarian seeking information on their ancestors. The library contains an extensive collection of old newspapers obituaries family genealogical records church records books etc. that are used for researching family genealogy. The librarian has started to digitize some records for preservation and possible display via the internet.
Preliminary development of a tract of land in Kittanning Borough in which an 1895 former passenger train station and freight building are situated. Expenses incurred for this development included consultant fees to prepare a Feasibility Study to determine the preliminary work items and cost estimates for restoration of the buildings consultant fees to prepare and submit an application for review and approval to the Department of Interior for placement of these buildings on the list of National Historic Buildings and consultant fees for the appraisal of the said tract of land. The Society purchased this land for future preservation of the buildings and to develop the property for use as an attraction for tourism and economic growth in the borough.
