Mission

The mission of the arts center & theatre of schenectady (acts) is to provide a diverse program of excellent performing arts events, to restore and preserve the beautiful proctor's theatre, to serve as a cultural center for the capital region and, to the extent that resources and the certificate of incorporation permit, support activities that contribute to the economic development and quality of life in the region.

Programs

2 programs

For more than 30 years, proctors has cultivated audiences of all ages through a vibrant arts education program. In 2014, we expanded that initiative to align with the organization's mission and strategic vision under a collaborative school of the arts, one of the most ambitious such departments in the country. The school encompasses proctors, capital repertory theatre and universal preservation hall and serves over 45,000 patrons annually. All programs emphasize collaborations with school districts, artists, arts organizations, and other regional partners, with a special focus on career and workforce training.

Expenses: $710K

Proctors designation as manager and operator of public, educational and government access cable television by the city of schenectady in december 2010 spurred the creation of a new broadcast entity, open stage media at proctors (osm). Osm public access is a conduit open to the community. Osm public access is free cable casting designed for local ideas and thoughts on cable television.
