Teens in transition is a life-skills based employment program for a select group identified by hte kc nova police audit as already engaging in or being at high risk for exposure to criminal violence. They are diverse in age, geneder and gang affiliation. They attend the program 11 hours per week. The goal of the program is to provide a safe, stable and healthy environment for the participants to gain the appropriate life skills and reduce barriers to lead to their personal success while decreasing their risk of committing a violent act.
Artstech is the fiscal sponsor for the social service component of kc nova (kansas city no violence alliance) kc nova is composed of teh kc police department, city of kansas city, jackson county prosecutor, fbi, and aft to offer a focused detterence initiative to reduce violence.
