Housing services: the housing services division manages several programs including hwap (home weatherization assistance program). This program provides weatherization, minor home repair, and a variety of utility home assistance programs designed to improve energy efficiency, reduce energy consumption and ensure safe environments for income eligible households.
Health services programs: the health services division manages several programs including wic (women, infants and children), help me grow (hmg), and the ohio maternal, infant and early childhood home visiting (miechv) programs. These programs provide nutrition education, health screenings and referrals, breastfeeding education and support, early intervention, and home visiting services that promote good health for pregant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants and children up to age five with a health or nutrition risk.
Acchdo: the ashtabula county community housing development organization manages two programs; the new hope supportive housing program, a homelessness prevention program and the emergency home repair program, a program that assists senior citizens with home repairs, structural, plumbing and furnace problems, that would force them from their homes. Csbg/i&r/2-1-1: the csbg program provides several activities, 2-1-1 is an easy to remember three (3) digit number that can be dialed anywhere in ashtabula county to connect people in need with community, social, health and human service programs and resources. 2-1-1 ashtabula county has been in operations for a long time, providing the vital link connecting people in need to services to assist with practical problems in their lives, 2-1-1 ashtabula county is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is provided to callers toll-free from anywhere in ashtabula county. Heap: the home energy assistance (heap) is a federally funded program administered by the ohio development services agency and is designed to help eligible low-income ohioans meet the high costs of home heating and summertime cooling. Snp (senior nutrition program): the senior nutrition program is comprised of two different activities: congregate meals and home delivered meals. The congregate meals program involves sharing of mid-day hot, nutritious meals amongst community members. The home delivered meals program is a program that aims to allow ashtabula county seniors to remain in their homes and avoid premature institutionalization by providing a hot, nutritious meal delivered to the home each week day. Audiology/speech services: the audiology program provides high quality, affordable, audiology services to the community; including diagnostic hearing tests, hearing screenings, hearing aid fittings, hearing aid repairs, assistive listening devices and custom-musician sound plugs, noise plugs and swimmers' plugs. Summer food service program: the summer food service program (sfsp) serves all childeren ages 1 through 18 and they receive free lunch meals during the summer months at participating sites. Individuals 19 through 21 who have been identified as having mental or physical disablities and following individualized education programs (ieps) through their current enrollment in educational programs are also eligible for free summer meals. Homemaker program: the homemaker program provides basic housecleaning services to seniors, ages 60 or older, who reside in ashtabula county. The provision of this homebased services allows seniors to remain in their own homes and live independantly in a safe clean and healthy environment.
