Mission

It is the mission of APIAVote to encourage and promote civic participation of Asian Pacific Islander Americans in the electoral and public processes at the national, state, and local levels. APIAVote also aims to educate and inform Asian and Pacific Islander American citizens in the United States, on a nonpartisan basis, to register and exercise their right to vote in federal, state, and local elections for public offices and to participate in the political process.

Programs

5 programs

National Field Program - APIAVote's National Field program empowers grassroots organizations and young AAPIs to become dynamic, sustainable and effective organizers who embed a culture of civic engagement and build local power. We collaborate and invest in local organizations large and small as well as young student leaders, to engage with AAPI voters directly and effectively as the trusted messengers of their campuses and local communities.

Expenses: $3.1MGrants: $2.3M

Outreach - APIAVote empowers and supports its nationwide network of partner organizations through hosting or attending conferences, events and meetings to further our mission of empowering Asian American and Pacific Islander AAPI communities to strengthen and sustain a culture of civic engagement. This also includes meetings with potential partners to educate them on being a part of APIAVote's vast network, as well as attending community events to further our relationship building in the AAPI nonprofit space. We also worked in coalition with more than 50 nonprofits, multicultural partners, influencers, celebrities, and community leaders to host the Unity March, a national effort to build a solidarity movement following the rise in violence against Asian Americans.

Expenses: $1.5MGrants: $3K

Youth Engagement - APIAVote organizes Asian American and Pacific Islander AAPI student organizations and leaders from around the country to increase voter turnout among AAPI youth through voter activation efforts, power building, and leadership development and training. We accomplish this through our college youth ambassador program that recruits AAPI identifying participants from campuses across the country to conduct culturally-relevant voter outreach campaigns, educate their broader campus community on the issues important to the AAPI electorate, and build sustainable programming that includes and recognizes AAPIs.

Expenses: $328KGrants: $11K

Leadership Development - APIAVote holds a series of weekend-long leadership trainings for nonprofit staff, community leaders, and volunteers in cities across the country. Trainees are taught to run an effective voter-mobilization program and incorporate civic participation into an APIAVote and/or Coalition's existing structure.

Expenses: $224K

Policy and Advocacy - APIAVote's Policy and Advocacy program is dedicated to advocating for more AAPI-inclusive research, addressing the critical issues facing our communities, and being a conduit between local, state and federal actors to ensure that AAPI communities are included in policy and legislation at all levels of government. Through surveys and data analysis, we have our finger on the pulse of how our communities are growing and what issues are impacting them the most.
