During the year ended may 31, 2024, the assistance league of greater portland's volunteers donated 42,500 hours (member volunteers donated 38,892 hours, community volunteers donated 3,608 hours) with an estimated net value of $1,423,325. Continued on schedule o.other programs - the chapter also supports the following:assault survivor kit - the assault survivor kit program helps restore dignity to victims of rape/assault when they leave their clothing as evidence for the police. Each kit contains casual outerwear, sandals, underwear, and personal hygiene products. The chapter provides these kits to all the local hospitals and facilities that sane (sexual assault nurse examiners) serves. During the year ended may 31, 2024, 131 kits were distributed to local healthcare facilities.cordero residential - cordero is a residential treatment home for teenage boys operated by janus youth programs. Under the supervision of the cordero staff, assistance league member-volunteers provide engaging activities, such as crafts, projects, and outings for enrichment twice each month for boys in the program. Additionally, milestones - such as birthdays, special occasions, personal achievements, and graduations - are recognized and celebrated when they occur. During the year ended may 31, 2024, the chapter supported 19 young men.scholarship program - the scholarship program provides funds for students entering into a trade program at portland community college (pcc). Pcc's program staff and chapter members screen and prioritize applicants. For those students who are chosen, tuition, books, materials, and supplies may be funded. During the year ended may 31, 2024, a total of $79,500 in scholarship funds were provided to 15 deserving students.profits program - the profits program provides retail opportunities for transitional students seeking independence. Young adults ages 18-21 with an individual education plan (iep) at a public high school train for job opportunities twice weekly in the assistance league thrift and consignment shops. There were 12 students and by school year end, 8 students were in paid employment (retail, health care, and technology).
