The 5th annual conference on health, inference, and learning (chil) was held in-person from june 27-28, 2024 in new york city, ny. The goal of the conference is to bring together a variety of disciplines at the intersection of machine learning and health. Chil is designed to spark insight-driven dialogue on new and emerging ideas. Chil 2024 featured 6 keynotes, three state of ml talks, two panels, two poster sessions, one tutorial, and a series of lightning talks. Chil 2024 received 116 paper submissions, and published 39 accepted papers. In total, 234 people registered for the conference, and 221 attended, reflecting a high (95%) attendance rate. Chil has grown in both submission volume and registration from the previous year.

The predicting high risk breast cancer data challenge was a virtual data competition organized by nightingale open science, association for health learning and inference (ahli) and providence st. Joseph health that concluded in may 2023. The goal of the challenge was to advance medical knowledge on identifying features of cancers that will metastasize. The winner and runner up were announced at the ml4h 2023 symposium. The program has officially concluded.
