DECARCERATION INITIATIVE - Description: A project to reduce mass incarceration in Maryland, Decarceration Initiative provides representation to people eligible to file motions to reduce their sentences under the Juvenile Restoration Act. Accomplishments: Seventy-two clients serving 20+ year sentences were released or had their sentences reduced as a result of the advocacy of the Decarceration Initiative team.

PAULI MURRAY LEADERSHIP DIVERSITY INITIATIVE - Description: Recognizing the critical importance of racial and ethnic diversity to a public defender's office, whose clients are primarily people of color, APDM seeks to expand the pipeline of attorneys from groups traditionally underrepresented in the legal profession and to strengthen the cultural competencies of the next generation of legal-service providers through paid, summer internships, fostering community events and strategic programming. Accomplishments: In 2024, the Pauli Murray Leadership Diversity Initiative hosted and supported three summer law-school-student fellows as well as provided support to community engagement programs in Baltimore City.
