Mission
The mission of the AWG Foundation is to encourage women to study and enter the geosciences.
Programs
3 programs
Exchange educational, technical, and professional information in conferences and workshops. This aspect of our work continues to grow following near cessation during the COVID pandemic. Our Distinguished Lecturer Program presents a mix of remote and in-person events, reaching several hundred students and practicing professionals at three in-person events and an unknown number at one virtual event. Participation in technical conventions/conferences is again high; our exhibits and events reach hundreds of individuals at each meeting.
Enhance professional growth and advancement of women in geosciences by offering awards to recognize their accomplishments. Awards include recognition of outstanding educators, travel grants, research grants, and recognition of graduate and undergraduate student excellence. Awards were presented to 28 individuals and 38 AWG memberships were awarded.
