Aamc leads & serves the academic medicine community to improve the health of people everywhere.

Programs

Policy, strategy, and outreach: this cluster helps members in matters related to visiting student application service, governmental relations, and communications. The governmental relations unit assists the association's members and constituents by monitoring legislation and regulations that affect academic medicine, medical research and patient care, as well as advising members on involvement in legislative activity and participating in coalitions with other members of the academic and scientific communities. The communications unit develops information, educational programs, and publications for members, the public and the media. While advancing the association's position on important issues, this unit builds and supports coalitions to enhance communication of important messages to targeted audiences.

Member learning and engagement: maintains the association's membership and constituent database, plans and provides logistical support for meetings and conferences, operates the association's reference center and archives, and manages publications ordering and fulfillment.

Academic affairs: this cluster helps member institutions improve the education of physicians across the continuum of their careers enabling them to better meet the changing needs of the public. Programs include medical education, graduate medical education, medical school affairs and accreditation.healthcare affairs: this cluster develops programs and services to help support member institutions focus on the interface between healthcare delivery system and academic medicine, paying particular attention to how healthcare in academic settings can address quality of care and patient-centered care.equity, diversity and inclusion: this unit leads efforts to help our members advance health equity in patient care, education and research through the organization's ability to use diversity for institutional excellence. Programs include research and professional development to increase under-represented minorities in academic medicine.scientific affairs: this cluster works to ensure an environment in which biomedical and behavioral research can flourish. The supply of scientific manpower, funding for research, scientific integrity, the responsible and humane use of animals in research and education, and relations with industry are among this cluster's concerns.
