Association Of Biomolecular Resource Facilities

ABRF has regional chapters that provide networking opportunities for core directors, managers and staff throughout the United States. The local chapters organize meetings that provide a forum for discussion of issues related to core management and their technologies. They also provide opportunities for core staff to network and obtain training and/or advanced technical information in a regional setting.

Abrf membership promotes the professional development of its members by: - publishing technology focused research group studies and administrative white papers, - running technology and administration focused workshops, for which members receive a discounted registration, - advertising job openings online, allowing employers to post and job-seekers to search for top core facility employment opportunities throughout the world. - connecting mentors and mentees, so that those early or even later in their core facility careers can find counsel in self-identified members, - coming soon: publishing a new consulting bureau, where abrf members who are open to consulting opportunities e.g., site visits, external review boards, technology mentoring can be listed.

Research groups & committees - research groups are organized by abrf members to advance specific biotechnologies for the primary purpose of developing research studies whereby participating laboratories can gauge their ability to perform given analytical techniques and, importantly, to gauge the effectiveness of that technique or methodology in real laboratory situations. Currently, there are eighteen such research groups: survey, antibiody technologies, dna sequencing, flow cytometry, genomic variation, genomics bioinformatics, genome, glycoprotein, light microscopy, metabolomics, molecular interactions, nucleic acids, protein expression, protein sequencing, proteome informatics, proteomics, proteomics standards, and next gen sequencing multi-rg study. The results of these research studies are made publicly available on the abrf website.
