Association Of Family Medicine Residency Directors

Family medicine-national innovations in continuity clinic experience (fm-nicce) started a pilot project in 2018 with 25 fully accredited programs in good standing with acgme. These programs received waivers from acgme and the abfm during the pilot to be innovative with resident schedules to determine if fewer than 40 hours per week would improve resident satisfaction and improve continuity of care with patients.

The organization participates in numerous organizational relationships that enhance family medicine residency education and address common issues of interest and concern.

The organization engages in several special projects including the afmrd website (www.afmrd.org) and the pd toolbox project. These projects provide family medicine residency programs with numerous tools to enhance education. The organization is developing a national curriculum for family medicine residency programs.
