Membership benefits, including website, newsletters, etc. The association keeps an active website and other electronic networking solutions to disseminate information and ideas for chairs, program directors, department administrators, and course directors.the association surveys all united states and canadian medical schools to discover best practices and disseminates this information to its membership. The association sends representatives to meetings to discuss current and future issues in pathology discipline. In addition, the association has an active committee that meets to review regulatory and policy issues that affect the organization's mission.
'academic pathology' is an open access journal and the official peer-reviewed publication of the association of pathology chairs, inc (apc). The journal seeks to address 1) methods for improving patient care (clinical informatics, genomic testing and data management, lab automation, electronic health record integration, and annotated biorepositories), 2) best practices in inter-professional clinical partherships, 3) innovative pedagogical approaches to medical education and educational program evaluation in pathology, 4) models for training academic pathologists and advancing academic career development, 5) administrative and organizational models supporting the discipline, and 6) leadership development in academic medical centers, health systems and other relevant venues. Intended authorship and audiences for academic pathology are international and reach beyond academic pathology itself, including but not limited to, healthcare providers, educators, researchers, and policy makers.
Job board income provides a networking opportunity for members to pursue new positions in their respective fields. Management fees are paid by other organizations (with missions and memberships similar to apc's) to compensate apc for services provided, such as meeting planning, website updating and grant application processing. The apc pathology leadership fellowship (aplf) is a year-long program designed for mid-career faculty/members to develop skills and receive mentoring to advance in their careers.
